South Valley Sanctuary is an agency located in West Jordan, Utah offering a variety of services for victims and survivors of domestic violence. Our services are delivered in two locations: a confidential shelter and the Community Resource Center located in West Jordan City Hall.
The Shelter offers: 24-hour hot line and advocacy services, emergency shelter and supportive services (case management, counseling, psycho educational groups, Children’s Learning Center) to men, women and children fleeing their homes due to domestic violence.
The shelter has 12 rooms and 57 beds. Residents must be a victim of domestic violence as defined by the state of Utah and in immediate danger in order to qualify for our services. The shelter offers short-term crisis shelter, however residents stay with us as long as needed while continuing to work on their goals and actions plans, that will lead to self sufficiency. Families DO NOT share rooms, regardless of the circumstances to increase sense of safety. Single individuals roommate with other single individuals. The shelter also provides, food, clothing, school supplies, laundry supplies, over the counter medications, and all the items residents may need while they are staying with us. The Community Resource Center (CRC) located in the West Jordan City Hall; provides case management, education and resources for those experiencing domestic violence but that are still living in the community at large offering the ability to access social services before a crisis develops forcing families to become homeless. The CRC is open Monday – Friday from 9am to 5 pm and it is located at 8000 south Redwood Road in the City hall of West Jordan on the first floor. The education team provides presentations, trainings, and awareness activities to all community members. Our specialized programs (Latino Coalition (Spanish), Enough (teenagers), Utah Employers Against Domestic Violence (UEADV), Cut-it-Out (beauticians), and the West Jordan Coalition) offer specialized material and activities to fit a wide range of audiences.
